With an area of nearly 1,100,000 km2, Ethiopia is the country with one of the most diverse topographies in Africa with the Rift Valley, the eastern and western plateaus, and two depression zones.

It is bordered by Eritrea in the north, Sudan and South Sudan in the east, Kenya in the south, and Djibouti and Somalia in the east.

A great diversity of natural landscapes, ancient cultures, unique species, and archaeological treasures are part of Ethiopia’s appeal.

The climate varies depending on the altitude, either on the plateaus or in the low altitude areas. In general, temperature variations during the year are not marked due to its proximity to the equator and in its capital Addis Ababa, the average high temperature hovers around 23 ºC (73 ºF).
